Original resin master model of 90s baseball star Jose Canseco from Corinthian which was one of the first 3 figures produced to support the launch of the UK sports Headliners brand.

This hand-crafted master model stands at 7cm tall and is painted in the colours of the Boston Red Sox for whom Canseco played between 1995 and 1996. These original US Headliners master models are distinguishable by their round bases which are akin to the original Corinthian football (soccer) releases. Corinthian fans will know this figure was launched to market in its mass-produced plastic form with an oval base featuring Canseco's name.

Jose Canseco is a controversial character in the world of baseball due to the rampant use of steroids during this career and his 'outing' of fellow bash brother Mark McGwire and other ex-teammates including Jason Giambi (both of whom later admitted Performance Enhancing Drug usage). Canseco played 17 Major League Baseball seasons as an outfielder and designated hitter. His 462 career home runs are the 12th-highest total in American League history and the 2nd most in MLB history for a player with less than 2000 games played.

Canseco's master model is accompanied by 3 photographs featuring some of the initial master models of other US sports stars that Corinthian intended to release in its Headliners product line. Depicted are NBA legend Hakeen Olajuwon (#34) from the Houston Rockets and NFL hero Emmitt Smith in his famous #22 Dallas Cowboys jersey.
