Collection: Corinthian Product Development Documents

In 1999, JaqJnr co-founder, Ross Watts, joined the Corinthian team and was at the very centre of product development, marketing and collector club engagement over an exciting period for this much-loved collectible.

Part of Ross's role as Marketing Manager at Corinthian was to finalise the product line with the clubs and work with the product development team to ensure everyone was satisfied with the final product. Here you will find copies of documents that were integral to the product development process of many of Corinthian's most famous releases.

SCULPT AND CAST & PAINT REQUEST

This A4 piece of paperwork was sent to Corinthian model makers in the UK to request a model to be either sculpted or cast and painted. This document was invaluable to the product development process as it would be used as a paper trail to record all work undertaken by the model makers and therefore all costs associated. In the ProStars era, no product development would begin on a figure without one of these being issued.

APPROVAL FORM

All figures released by Corinthian that there licensed (ie club kit releases) required the Football Club to sign off or approve the final model that had been sculpted, cast and painted before it was sent to the factory to be produced. This document details the request for approval for the model.

APPROVED IMAGE

Every approval form would be accompanied by an image of the figure for sign off by Club. This document represents the image of the figure sent to the commercial department of the club for approval.

PROMOTIONAL PHOTOGRAPHS

Over the years promotional photographs were taken and used to promote the product to retailers and collectors. These photos varied in size (6x4, 7x5 and 10x8) and content.

MANUFACTURING SPECIFICATION FORM

This is the document that was issued to the factory in China from the Corinthian product development team in the UK to mass produce the Corinthian figures that would be shipped to stores worldwide. Each form details the pantone colours and kit detail required with an image of the figure.

The style and format of the Manufacturing Specification Form evolved over time. You will notice that not all documents look the same - depending on the series and release date.
